Siri can now automatically record your police interactions

In a time where being too careful has sadly become necessary, a new mobile feature has surfaced to help people covertly record law enforcement officials. All you have to say is, "Hey Siri, I'm getting pulled over."

With the arrival of a new iOS 12 app called Shortcuts, users are able to customize a series of actions and trigger them using voice activation. One savvy Reddit user from Arizona named Robert Peterson created an add-on called Police that gives drivers an added sense of security.

Once you have both the Shortcuts app and the Police script, which is downloadable on Reddit, all you need is your voice command—"Hey Siri, I'm getting pulled over"—to activate it. Your iPhone will then automatically pause music, lower the brightness, activate Do Not Disturb mode, and send your location to a designated contact informing them of what's happening.

The front camera will then record the interaction, and once it's over you can save the video, send it to your designated contact, or upload it to Dropbox, and your phone will automatically return to its previous state.

Peterson told USA Today that he his only goal with the Police shortcut is "to help people stay safe … and honest."

Though it's a mark of a devastating flaw in our society that citizens should be wary of police, the app is a great way to set the record straight.
