When Minaj's latest album 'Queen' charted second to Travis Scott's 'Astroworld,' she responded to the news by calling Scott out for selling over 50,000 “season pass” bundles (a ticket to his tour comes with the album) and she tweeted, “I spoke to him. He knows he doesn't have the #1 album this week.”
She then fired at Scott's use of Kylie Jenner and their daughter to bring up sales: “I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling people to come see her & Stormi.”
Not done there, Minaj directed her attention at Spotify for hyping Drake's album but not hers, all because she played her music on Beats 1 Radio show 10 minutes too early.
Minaj topped it all off with a suggestion that racism and sexism were at play, asking, “Do you know how many women get systematically blackballed out of their positions in an office building & can't fight back?” She then tried to pass off the rant as “sarcasm/dry humor.”
In a 2010 interview, Minaj said she'll respond to Kim when her name is on the Billboard charts, adding, "You're going to go down in history now as a sore loser, as opposed to going down in history as the Queen… Don't play with me."
Though the feud seemed to simmer, Kim publicly called Minaj “catty” and “obnoxious” in 2012, then remixed Beyoncé's Minaj-assisted track 'Flawless' in 2013, and recently said of Minaj's 2018 'Queen' album: “I was named that, I never named myself that. It's a difference.”
Minaj shot back two weeks later with three tracks dissing Remy, explaining on Instagram that it took two weeks because “Queens don't move on peasant time,” and adding, “I'll give you half a million dollars if you can book ANY show or interview without mentioning the Queen name.”
The two divas very publicly, and sometimes on-air, butted heads while co-judging on 'American Idol' back in 2012. Carey reportedly didn't think Minaj could sing, nor that she should be a judge.
They never patched things up, instead announcing their departure from the show on the same day. Carey later claimed, “It was like hell, going to work every day in hell, with Satan.”
Though she followed that with “No, no, no, no, no shade,” the comment came around the time of rumors that Iggy Azalea, also nominated for the category, used ghostwriters.
Swift took it very personally and responded, “I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”
Swift replied, “If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on.” But people started picking sides (like Piers Morgan being on Swift's side and Katy Perry on Minaj's) and things escalated.
Realizing she made a mistake, Swift apologized to Minaj, “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki.” Happy ending!
Then, during her acceptance speech at the 2015 MTV VMAs for Best Hip-Hop Video, Minaj took a precious on-air moment to put the pop singer in her place: “Back to this b***h that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?”
Not having had enough, when Cyrus was announcing the winner of Video of the Year, she recounted having lost the award herself in 2008, and she looked to Minaj when she yelled, “I was fine with it because it's no big deal! It's just an award!”
Later, in a cover story for the New York Times magazine, Minaj explained that her biggest problem was that Cyrus was taking whatever she wanted from black culture but failing to acknowledge how black people feel about real issues.
Abraham hit back (but with grammar that didn't help her case): “Cause your [sic] a parent right? Your videos look like p**n.” Minaj told her to treat her mother better, and then it seems the rapper and her Barbz grew bored of the reality star.
Minaj was well acquainted with the Italian footwear designer and says he told her she inspired his "Nicki" shoe. She later called him out on Twitter in 2017 for naming sneakers after her while ignoring her call about an official collaboration. “The racism & disrespect won't be tolerated.”
She commented on how Minaj's verse wasn't finished and had to be changed. In Minaj's subsequent interview with Zane Lowe, Minaj said Cardi hurt her feelings and that she was shocked that Cardi wasn't grateful to be on a track with her.
Following the release of Migos's track 'MotorSport' in 2017, people were already speculating that Minaj and Cardi B, both featured on the song, were feuding. But it wasn't until Cardi did an interview with Capital Xtra that things spiraled.
If that weren't enough, Minaj called out her label for not defending her out of fear that it might impact Ariana Grande's record sales.
In 2016, Minaj called out the 'Teen Mom OG' star in a profane Twitter war, criticizing Abraham's relationship with her mother, her failure to know the difference between "you're" and "your,” and calling her a “ding bat.”
Cardi later aired out all of her grievances on Instagram.

Cyrus responded in an interview with the New York Times. She called Minaj "jealous" and made some ill-advised comments about race, claiming that Minaj was failing to address the larger problems by making this issue all about herself. The pop star also blamed Minaj for starting a feud with Taylor Swift.
She criticized the platform for giving her music away for free, arguing that she's one of the top Spotify artists of all time, and claiming that the streaming service was trying to punish her.
Though she didn't explicitly mention any names, Minaj referenced the alleged messages and advised that they should go in an explicit place... She also said, "If you was in this woman's group and you ain't talk about this s—t for 10 years, and as soon as you see she's got a video coming out with Nicki Minaj ... Stop. If you want a solo career, baby girl, just say that," she said. "You don't have to attack someone else. If that's how you felt, why were you kiki'ing with her and being in the videos with her for 10 years?" Minaj added, "Now, all of a sudden she's not in a video with you, you have some negative, evil thing to do and say? Stop."
“Everyone is saying how disrespectful 'Barbie Dreams' is, and that's why I f****** love it,” Minaj said. Her goal was to flip what any male rapper might do and let the double standard in society reveal itself.
Minaj added that she was upset neither Cardi nor Migos defended her when rumors were circulating about their feud. She also took to Twitter to reveal that Cardi left out the part about how Quavo and the label told her to change the verse, and that it wasn't of her own choice.
Following the announcement of the controversial 2021 Grammy nominations, Minaj aired her grievances about the award show. “Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade—went on to inspire a generation,” she tweeted, adding, “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”
When Minaj was understandably upset by the news that her single 'Super Freaky Girl' would not be considered in the hip-hop categories at the Grammys and would instead be in the pop category, she pulled Latto into her complaint saying that 'Big Energy' should then also be pulled from rap and "ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll," she tweeted. Minaj noted that both tracks had the same producer, Dr. Luke. Latto reportedly tried to talk to Minaj offline, but Minaj aired it all out online.
Minaj called Latto an "entitled Karen" who'd "be silent; rather than speak up for the black woman she called her biggest inspiration." Shots were fired on Twitter between the two, with Latto calling Minaj's husband out for being a sex offender and Minaj getting the Barbz involved. Latto then shared a video clip of their conversation where she can be heard telling Minaj that she didn't mean to diminish the iconic rapper's role in paving a way for women in the industry, while Minah tells her she needs to do more research.
Their feud really kicked off back in 2015, after Minaj and Cyrus had both released massive music videos for ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Wrecking Ball,’ respectively. When MTV announced the nominees for the VMAs, Minaj wasn’t on the list for Video of the Year. She took to Twitter and wrote, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”
Minaj's tweet, "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year," reached Swift, who was nominated for her 'Bad Blood' video, which featured many women with slim bodies.
Minaj's 2021 collaborator and former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson was accused of "blackfishing"—which is when a non-Black person tries to pass as Black or mixed using things like bronzer, tanning, Photoshop, cosmetic surgery, etc—following the release of her track 'Boyz.' Screenshots of alleged DMs from Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock bashing Nelson flooded Twitter, and on October 11 Minaj joined Nelson on an Instagram Live to apparently call the bandmates out.
Like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift was also nominated for a VMA in 2015, the year that Minaj felt she was snubbed for 'Anaconda.'
Tensions came to a head at the Harper's Bazaar ICONS party. Minaj supposedly liked several tweets about Cardi being a bad parent. This led to a confrontation at the party, where Minaj "accidentally" stepped on Cardi B's dress, and Cardi took off her shoe and hurled it at her.
Minaj allegedly told Carey, "I'm gonna knock you out." And a TMZ video shows Minaj saying, "I told them I'm not f****** putting up with your f****** highness over there," proceeded by Carey calling her a child. Diva meltdowns at their finest!
A track off 'Queen' names almost every rapper in the game, including Drake, 50 Cent, Eminem, DJ Khaled, Quavo, and Meek Mill.
Everyone knows things can get quite heated in the music industry, especially in today’s age where it’s not just the music that speaks for itself. Every artist now has a direct line to their fans, their haters, and to other celebrities as well. That means there’s much more speaking outside of the music, and, in Nicki Minaj’s case, those words can be pretty loud.
With Twitter rants and ruthless call-outs galore, Minaj may just be the most confrontational rapper in the game right now. From allegedly threatening music's biggest diva, to the endless tornado of blame that swept up Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus in its wake, she has numerous feuds to her name.
The most recent involves Megan Thee Stallion. On January 29, Minaj dropped her single 'Big Foot,' which she has stated in multiple social media posts is aimed at the 'WAP' rapper. In the song, Minaj accuses her of lying on her dead mother's name and lying about the 2020 shooting involving Tory Lanez. 'Big Foot' was released just three days after Megan released her own diss track, 'Hiss.' The song more generally attacks her detractors, but fans believe at least one verse specifically targets Minaj. She references Megan’s Law, a policy that requires sex offenders to register themselves with the state. Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, is a level two sex offender after he was convicted of attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl in 1995. In 2022, he was convicted for failing to register himself as a sex offender in Los Angeles. The source of the ongoing feud between the two rappers is unclear, but seems to have occurred sometime after they collaborated on the 2019 hit 'Hot Girl Summer.'
