The Weeknd shared a video for his single ‘Out Of Time’ off his album 'Dawn FM,' and it had an unexpected star: 'Squid Game' actress HoYeon Jung. The two enjoy an evening of karaoke throughout the video, directed by Cliqua, which feels a lot like Sofia Coppola's 'Lost in Translation.' Then at the end, Jim Carrey makes an appearance as a sort of mad scientist, placing an artificial mask over his patient, presumed to be The Weeknd, while Carrey’s monologue from Dawn FM can be heard playing.
Taylor Swift shared her "music movie" for her song 'Bejeweled' from her new album 'Midnights' and it starred some surprising guests. Oscar-winner Laura Dern, vedette Dita Von Teese, girl-band HAIM, longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, and famed makeup artist Pat McGrath all made cameos in the video which is a spin on Cinderella. Dern portrays the stepmother, HAIM plays the stepsisters, Von Teese is the “fairy goddess," and Antonoff stars as the prince.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon about how Swift landed Dern for the video, she explained: “I was like, ‘Oscar-winner Laura Dern, hello. I’ve written a script. It’s a one-scene script in which you are going to call me ‘a tired, tacky w e n c h’ and she was like, ‘I’m down.’" Swift described Dern as the “coolest,” and said directing the actress was “easier than anything I’ve ever done in my life."
The list of actors and celebrities who have appeared in music videos is long. A famous personality can add considerable kudos to a music promo, even while the artist or performer may be equally admired and well known.
Diane Keaton and Justin Bieber's fans may have little overlap, but the actress once starred in the singer's 'Ghost' music video—a role which even she apparently never expected. In an interview with Metro, Keaton recalled playing Bieber's grandmother in the 2021 music video and the surprise at even being casted.
"I couldn't believe it. This was like one of those things that happens [and] you're going, 'I'm what?'" Keaton said. "And of course, it was so much fun, it couldn't have been more fun. I can't believe it. I still can't believe it." The music video shows Bieber and Keaton mourning his recently deceased grandfather and spending time together, until two years later Bieber sets her up on a date with a new man.
"No, I hadn't been a fan," Keaton confessed to the outlet. "I mean, I didn't even know him. I knew the music a little and I liked the music, but I wasn't a fan exactly – so you know, I don't have music pouring in my ears all the time." She continued, "I don't know why me, I still don't understand. I don't know how, but I loved it."
