Criminal gangs operate across the nation, but which ones are more active and where? From outlaw motorcycle clubs to those fueled by racial or ethnic identities, gangs account for a large portion of the criminal activity in America.

Crips, Bloods, All Profits Gang, The Almighty Latin King, and Queen Nation are among the recognized gangs in the state of Alabama.
Alaska may be more remote, but it’s nonetheless plagued by criminal gangs, most notably the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and the Crips.
Doble Gang, Phoeniquera, Phoenix gangs, WBP, Bloods, and Crips are all active in Arizona.
The state is eighth poorest in the country, with a 16.3% poverty rate. Higher levels of poverty have been associated with increased gang activity. In Arkansas, there are a number of active gangs, including the Rufus Buck Gang, Hoover’s Folk Nation, Dixie Mafia, Outlaws Motorcycle Club, Sons of Silence, Bloods, Crips, and Almighty Vice Lord Nation.
As the most populous state in America, California also has significant gang activity. The most active gangs in the Golden State include the Aryan Brotherhood, MS-13, Norteños, Sureños, 18th Street Gang, 38th Street Gang, and of course, the Bloods and the Crips.
Colorado has a rather extensive list of recognized gang activity. The most active ones are the 211 Crew, 303 Mafia, North Side Mafia, Gallant Knights Insane, Inca Boyz, Rollin’ 30s, Tre 31st, Tre Duce, Tre Tre Crips, Tre Tre Finest, Bloods, and the 18th Street gang.
Connecticut has four main gangs operating in the state, namely the Latin Kings, Ñeta, Los Solidos, and 20 Luv.
There are a number of criminal gangs operating within state lines, including the Latin Kings, MGS Gang, Mexican gang, Bloods, and Crips.
Florida is the third most populous state in the country and it’s also where a large number of gangs operate, including infamous crime families such as the Bonanno, Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, and Trafficante crime family (Santo Trafficante pictured). Other gangs active in Florida include the Sarasota Assassination Society, Sons of Silence, Latin Kings, La Raza Nation, and Zoe Pound.
There are five recognized gangs in the state: the Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings, Vice Lords, Bloods, and Crips.
Hawaii had quite a large number of active gangs, many of which are local. These include the Awanei (AWZ), Kam4 projects, the MDubbz (Mayor Wright), The Company, 99 Street Halawa Mob Crips, and the Parccyde Sons of Samoa Crips.
Criminal gang activity in Idaho is mostly dominated by Norteños, Sureños, Bloods, and Crips, as well as white supremacist gangs and a number of biker gangs.
The list of recognized gangs operating in the state once ruled by Al Capone consists of the Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Black P Stones, and Latin Kings.
Bad Newz, 2100 Arlington, Cross Town, Crew Life, Gangstaville, Gangster Disciples, Brook Side, Sons of Silence, Vice Lords, and Wild Life dominate gang activity in Indiana.
The Hawkeye State doesn’t have an extensive list of gangs operating within state lines, but criminal gang activity is still present. Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings, C Block, and Vice Lords are the most active.
There are four recognized gangs operating in Kansas, namely the Crips, Bloods, The 51st Street Crips, and the Sureños.
The Bluegrass State has quite a few active criminal gangs. They include the Gangster Disciples, Black Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings, Simon City Royals, Vice Lords, and the Kansas City Crime Family.
Louisiana has the highest poverty rate in the country, and several criminal gangs are active in the state. These include the Bandidos, The 3-N-G Gang, and Outlaw motorcycle gangs.
The northeasternmost US state has quite a large number of active criminal gangs. They include the Crips, Bloods, FSU, Latin Kings, Maine Elements, Neta, P-Town Soldiers/B, The Portland Boys, Surenos 13, Tiny Rascals Gang, TRU, Unauthorized Outlaws, Underground Thugs, Urban Boys for Life, and East Side Til I Die.
There are only three recognized gangs in the state of Maryland: the Crips, the Bloods, and the MS-13.
The state is dominated by three criminal gangs, namely the Hells Angels, the Outlaws, and the Lenox Street Boys.
There are only two recognized gangs in the state: the Seven Mile Bloods and the Playboy Gangster Crips.
The North Star State has several active gangs in the area. These include the Bloods, Crips, Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Black P Stones, Bogus Boys, Family Mob, Mara-Sulvatrucha, Native Mob, One Nine’s, Purple Brothers, Somali Hot Boyz, Stick Up Boys, Sureños, Taliban, and Vatos Locos.
The southern state ranks high in poverty in comparison to the rest of the country. The most active gangs in Mississippi are the Gangster Disciples, Black Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings, Simon City Royals, Vice Lords, and the Kansas City Crime Family.
The Show-Me State has a number of criminal gangs operating within state lines. They include Family Values, Joplin Honkys, Missouri Aryan Brotherhood, Norteños, Peckerwood Midwest, Aryan Circle, and the Sacred Separatist Group.
Crips, Bloods, Norteños, Sureños, Dine Pride, Native Pride, and Warrior Society are the active gangs in Montana.
Nebraska’s criminal gang activity is dominated by the Hells Angels, Bloods, Airport Crips, Cooper Park Locos, and the Vice Lords.
Recognized gangs in the state of Nevada include the Crips, Playboys, 311 Boyz, and the Gerson Park Kingsmen.
The state has a long list of active criminal gangs. They include: the Crips, Nine Trey Bloods, Gangster Disciples, Latin Gangster Disciples, Folk, Latin Kings, MS-13, Sureños, Trinitarios, Diamond Kings, Brothers of the White Warriors, Bay State Skinheads, Combatants, Chinese Mafia, Hells Angels MC, Iron Eagles MC, Juggalos, Kaotic Kings of Destruction, Milford & Company, Mountain Men MC, Outlaws MC, Pagans MC, Red Villain Gangstas, Rough Riders, and Dominions.
The Garden State has several gangs operating in the area, namely the Bloods, Rollin 60s Crips, 18th Street, 230 Boys, Brick Squad, So Icey Boys, Trinitarios, Hells Angels, and Pagan’s MC.
New Mexico has a poverty rate above the national average, and gang criminal activity is very much present in the state. They include: the Bandidos, Hells Angels, Brew Town Locos, Los Carnales prison gangs, Los Demonos, Los Padillas, Los Sureños and Juaritos, Memphis Boys, Servalle Pajarito, Sinaloa Cartel, West Siders, and the 72 Gang.
In addition to New York City’s Five Families (pictured is former boss of the Gambino crime family, John Gotti), there’s the Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, Mac Baller Brims, Zulu Nation, Matatones, Nietas, Rat Hunters, Silenciosos, and Five Prisoners operating statewide.
Bloods, Crips, Folk Nation, People Nation, Hidden Valley Kings, as well as Asian and Hispanic gangs operate in North Carolina.
Recognized gangs in North Dakota include the Rapid City Journal, the North Side Family, Boyz, Native Mob, and the North Side Gangster Disciples.
The Executioners, Columbus Ohio gangs, Bloods, and Crips are all active in the Buckeye State.
Active gangs in Oklahoma include the Hoover Crips, Bloods / Piru, Crips, Folk Nation, People Nation, and Sureños, as well as a number of outlaw motorcycle gangs and white supremacist groups.
The Hoovers, Bloods, Crips, Aryan Nation, European Kindred, and Latin Kings dominate gang criminal activity in Oregon.
The list of active gangs in Pennsylvania is quite large. It includes the Outlaws MC, Sons of Satan MC, Pagan’s MC, The Breed MC, Sin City Deciples MC, Warlocks MC, Juggalo Gangs, Keystone United, Latin Kings, Trinitarios, Bufalino Crime Family, Pittsburgh Crime Family, Flathead Gang, Sadistic Souls, and Polish-American organized crime.
The recognized gangs in the state include the Westend, Eastside, Southside, Taylor Street, Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, and the Trinitarios.
The state ranks in the top 10 when it comes to poverty rates. The most active gangs include the Mafia Gangster Disciples, G-Shine, Insane Gangster Disciples, and Charlie Town Clique.
The Mount Rushmore State has a number of active criminal gangs, namely the North Side Gangster Disciples, Boyz, the Rapid City Journal, Native Mob, and the North Side Family.
The southern state has a fair number of criminal gang activity. The recognized gangs in Tennessee are the Mara Salvatrucha, Vice Lords, Gangster Disciples, Bloods, and Crips.
The Lone Star State has a number of criminal gangs operating in the area. They include the Bandidos, Aryan Circle, Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, Texas Mexican Mafia, Texas Syndicate, Barrio Azteca, Bloods, Crips, and Latin Kings.
There are five gangs operating in Utah, namely the Sureños, Soldiers Of Aryan Culture, Bloods, Crips, and Norteños.
Vermont doesn’t have an extensive list of criminal gangs operating in the region, but there are still a few. They include Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings, and a number of street gangs.
Virginia has a considerable list of recognized gangs, including Dead Man Incorporated, 13th Gang, Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Broad Rock Boys, 9 Boyz, 2 Times, Sex Money Murder Blood, Nine Trey Bloods, Double II Bloods, F the Opps, Dolow Crips, Rollin 30 Crips, Sureno 13, Mongols, Los Lobos, OTF (Only the Family), Hells Angels, Pagans, Outkast, Wheels of Soul, MS-13, and Young Guns.
There are a number of gangs operating in the Evergreen State, including the Hells Angels, Mongols, Bandidos, Ghost Riders, Gypsy Jokers, Iron Horseman, Warriors, Canyon Riders, Brother Speed, Resurrection, Amigos, Destralos, Free Souls, Hombres, Nomads, Outsiders, and Unforgiven.
Bloods, Apache, Avengers, Barbarians, Brothers of the Wheel, Ghost Riders, and Lost Souls are the most active gangs in West Virginia.
The gangs operating in Wisconsin include the Latin Kings, Vice Lords, Spanish Cobras, Black Gangster Disciples, Imperial Gangsters, and the Insane Unknowns.
Wyoming’s criminal gang activity is dominated by the Mongols, Bandidos, Aryan Nation, Hells Angels, the Bloods, and the Ku Klux Klan.
