Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband, Bryon Noem, after 34 years of marriage, according to South Dakota court records. She listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to Dakota News Now.
The former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary submitted the filing on September 28, in Hamlin County, where the couple lived while Kristi served as South Dakota’s governor and later joined President Donald Trump’s Cabinet.
The divorce follows Kristi’s removal from her Department of Homeland Security position several months ago, and the scandal surrounding Bryon’s private online activities. Earlier this year, the Daily Mail published photos it said showed Bryon wearing women's clothing and fake breasts. At the time, Kristi's representative said the former South Dakota governor was “devastated” by the images.
The couple married in 1992 in Watertown, South Dakota. They have three children—Kassidy, Kennedy, and Booker—and four grandchildren.
