Showbiz isn't always a hospitable world, and many celebrities struggle with being constantly under the spotlight. Adele has always been open about her performance anxiety and discomfort with live performances. The down-to-earth Grammy winner has always preferred to keep her life relatively normal and private. Ahead of her one-month residency at the Messe München in Munich, Germany, this August, Adele told media outlets that she will take a "big break" from music afterward and has no plans to work on any new material. This is her second residency this year, scheduled in between Las Vegas performances. “My tank is quite empty from being on stage every weekend in Las Vegas," she revealed. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”
During a Munich show on August 31, the singer went into more detail about her decision. “I just need a rest,” she said in a state of emotion on stage. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.” She went on, "... I’ve really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I would ever do. I have 10 shows left after this, back in my residency… but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break… I want to live my new life that I’ve been building." This isn't the first time the 'Hello' singer has taken a step back from music, but it sounds like it'll be the longest break she's ever taken.
