When you belong to the rich and famous category of society, you don’t have to subject yourself to being a mere fan of sports teams—you can become an owner!
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became co-owners of Welsh soccer club Wrexham F.C. in October of 2021. The deal between the 'Deadpool' star and the 'It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia' creator was initially announced in February of that year. The actors reportedly paid a "nominal sum," and pledged an immediate investment of US$2.5 million.
The bizarre move was questioned by many, but now fans of both the stars and the team will get the inside scoop! Disney+ are releasing a 14-episode docuseries called 'Welcome to Wrexham' which follows Reynolds and McElhenney as they embark on this endeavor which they deem "financially idiotic." Wrexham soccer club has said that the documentary will shine a light on the team's "underdog" story. Given the unusual subject and the general hilariousness of the two main characters, it's sure to be an entertaining watch.
