How to get a star? - It goes without saying that a Hollywood star doesn't fall from the sky, and that there are actual steps to follow. First of all, you have to be famous (sorry Jane Doe!). Secondly, you have to be nominated by someone.

Application - However being nominated is not enough. You have to write a statement confirming that you want a star, you have to attend the unveiling ceremony. Yes, it can be turned down—but you can apply as many times as you want.

Unveiling ceremony - Since the unveiling ceremony is quite a big deal, the star also has to bring plenty of fans and some celebrity friends.

Pay for it - Last but not least, you have to pay for it. And it ain't cheap: US$30,000! Half of the fee goes to the creation of the star, and the other half goes to the Hollywood Historic Trust.

Angelina Jolie - But not all the big celebrities have a star on the Walk of Fame. Angelina Jolie still hasn't claimed one, unlike Brad Pitt's ex, Jennifer Aniston, who got hers in 2012.

Whitney Houston - Although Whitney Houston was selected to have a star on the world's most famous sidewalk in 1995, the ceremony never actually took place.
