Lil Nas X has revealed that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, shared the news in a candid Instagram video on June 17, saying he has been in rehab for several months and is now working with both a therapist and psychiatrist.
The 'Old Town Road' and 'Industry Baby' hitmaker said he had suspected for years that he had a mental health condition, but was hesitant to take medication because he feared people would see him differently. He told fans he is now “doing much better,” feeling more grounded, and creating with “less fear” in his heart.
The update comes nearly a year after his August 2025 arrest in Los Angeles. Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to four felony charges, and in April 2026 a California judge granted him entry into a mental health diversion program.
