CELEBRITY Retrospective

Who doesn't know Bob Marley? Who has never heard such songs as 'No Woman, No Cry' or 'Is This Love?' Bob Marley is a worldwide music phenomenon to this day. The king of reggae's life wasn't easy, but one thing is certain: Bob Marley lives on through his music, as well as in his messages on the Rastafarian faith.

The music legend's story is relived in the new biopic, 'Bob Marley: One Love,' starring Kingsley Ben-Adir.The movie focuses on a few key years in Marley's life, opening in 1976 around the time of an assassination attempt was carried out against him. His wife, Rita, is played by Lashana Lynch, and other cast members include James Norton, Michael Gandolfini, and Jesse Cilio. Ben-Adir revealed that he received the stamp of approval from the real-life Rita Marley, and her children with Bob—Ziggy and Cedella. Early reviews have applauded Adir's electrifying performance and incredible mastery of Marley's speech, but some critics feel that director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who directed 'King Richard,' let the picture become a practice in hero-worship rather than a compelling story of a complicated man. The hotly anticipated biopic hits theaters on February 14, 2024.

In the meantime, let's look back at his exceptional life and career in this gallery. Click on to get started.
