Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader of the US Senate, suffered an unusual episode during a press conference on July 26, 2023. McConnell was mid-sentence when he suddenly trailed off and froze, staring into space and unable to speak. His aides approached him with concern and he didn't respond to their questions. After almost 20 seconds, they led him away from the podium and out of sight. An aide for McConnell claimed that the senator became lightheaded and had to step away for a moment. The 81-year-old later returned to answer more questions but didn't address the incident, simply stating that he was "fine." A similar incident occurred at another news conference the following month.

Tori Kelly -

Singer Tori Kelly was at dinner on July 23, 2023, with some friends in downtown Los Angeles when she suddenly appeared to faint. TMZ reported that the 'Nobody Love' singer's heart had quickened and she was "out for a while," so her friends took her to the hospital where doctors soon found blood clots around her lungs and legs. Her condition was reportedly very serious for a few days, but Kelly has made a promising recovery. "I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy. And it seems, you know, like it’s a manageable thing," she explained in an October interview.

Joaquin Phoenix -

Joaquin Phoenix collapsed on set while filming an intense scene for his 2023 film, 'Beau is Afraid.' On April 1, writer-director Ari Aster revealed during a Q&A at a screening of the film in New York: "There was a scene that was very intense for Patti [LuPone], and it was a shot that was on Patti—it was not on him—and all of a sudden, [Phoenix] fell out of frame," he said, per Deadline. "I was really [ ] 'cause it was a really good take. It felt confusing so I went around the corner, and he was collapsed," he continued. "I knew it was bad because he was letting people touch him, and people were tending to him and he was allowing it."

Aster added, "The point is that he fainted in somebody else's take. He wasn't on camera, and he was helping them. He was in it for them to the point where he collapsed. It's very poetic that he collapsed in somebody else's shot."

Brandy -

Singer Brandy was rushed to hospital on October 11, 2022, after suffering a suspected seizure at her LA home. She updated concerned friends and fans on Instagram the following day, saying, "I am following doctors’ orders and getting the rest I need due to dehydration and low amounts of nutrition. Thank you for your prayers and support." Brandy had a similar incident in 2017 when she was hospitalized after losing consciousness on a flight. A statement released by her team cited overworking and constant traveling for her tour, which led to exhaustion and dehydration.

D-Roc -

Ying Yang Twins member D-Roc collapsed onstage 30 minutes into their set at a fair in Missouri in August 2022, where they were special guests for headliner Vanilla Ice. He had to be carried away and naturally, the internet was awash with concern. But D-Roc set the record straight soon after and explained that he passed out due to dehydration and just needed water, Gatorade, and rest, TMZ reports. He said he planned on making a couple "life changes" to make sure an incident like that doesn't happen again.

Carlos Santana -

Carlos Santana collapsed onstage about an hour into his concert in Michigan on July 5, 2022. The Grammy-winning guitarist was reportedly suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration, which led to the scary incident. He received medical attention on stage and regained consciousness before being wheeled off in a stretcher. Thankfully, Santana has since recovered, his manager Michael Vrionis confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Heather McDonald -

Standup comedian Heather McDonald collapsed soon after taking the stage during a show in Tempe, Arizona, on February 5, 2022. She addressed fans from the hospital later that night on Instagram Stories and apologized profusely for ending everyone's night. “I got up, I did one joke and I felt so dizzy,” McDonald recalled of passing out. “You can see my eye, I fell on my eye. Oh my God, I cannot believe this happened, I feel so terrible that they had to tell everyone to leave and then cancel the second show.”  She said she's "never, ever fainted in my life,” and her reps told NBC that she “may have lost consciousness because of dehydration” and suffered a skull fracture from the fall. TMZ reported that McDonald told a joke about coronavirus vaccines and then fell to the floor, leading many people to think that the collapse was part of an act. Her reps clarified that she tested negative for coronavirus.

Tom Felton -

Tom Felton, who played Malfoy in the 'Harry Potter' franchise, collapsed on the course while playing golf at the 2021 Ryder Cup Celebrity Match. The actor was seen falling to the ground suddenly and later had to be carried off on a stretcher as he was unable to walk without assistance. Felton was taken for medical evaluation, and months later he said it was just a severe case of jet lag.

'Better Call Saul' star Bob Odenkirk made headlines after he collapsed on set. The actor was on location in New Mexico when he suddenly had to be rushed to hospital. It was later revealed that he had suffered a heart attack but was making a full recovery.

Elle Fanning - The child actor has blossomed into a revered A-list star, with roles in 'Galveston,' 'The Beguiled,' and 'Mary Shelley.' Fanning fainted at an event in Cannes. Her Prada gown was apparently too tight, and took her breath away. "Oops, had a fainting spell tonight in my 1950's Prada prom dress but it's all good," she wrote on Instagram.
