Zendaya: Meet the girl taking over the world
Zendaya wins her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Television Series
© BrunoPress
Hollywood is rife with tales of Disney stars dominating headlines, from Miley Cyrus to Bella Thorne, but no Disney alum has ever had such a crystal clear reputation as Zendaya. She’s a film and TV actress, but she’s also a fashion icon, author, dancer, designer, R&B singer, activist—oh, and did we mention she's only in her mid-twenties?
At the age of 26, Zendaya has earned her first ever Golden Globe. She took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Television Series for her work in 'Euphoria,' though she wasn't there to accept this milestone achievement.
Jay Ellis, who presented the trophy alongside Glen Powell, explained that she was busy doing the thing that earned her the award in the first place. "Zendaya couldn't be with us tonight," Ellis said. "So, we are going to accept this award on her behalf. She's busy, she's working, y'all. It's a good thing." The young star beat out Emma D'Arcy for 'House of the Dragon,' Laura Linney for 'Ozark,' Imelda Staunton for 'The Crown,' and Hilary Swank for 'Alaska Daily.'
What truly separates Zendaya from the growing crowd of young celebrities is that she is all talent and passion, and no scandal or controversy. She’s got a good head on her shoulders, and her skills only seem to sharpen with time. From ‘Spider-Man’ to ‘Dune’ she’s proved her blockbuster-making ability. Now, with her dark HBO series ‘Euphoria,’ she has shed her Disney aesthetic completely and is making history on the awards circuit.
