Can you imagine a world where everyone looks the same? A world where body measurements and whatever standards deemed ideal by society would be met by every single person? It would be pretty boring. We come in all shapes and sizes, and that should be celebrated, not demonized.

Celebrities, however, are exposed to a much wider audience, and their image is constantly under harsh scrutiny by the public and the media. Luckily, many stars have clapped back at body shamers. And many stars have the fanbase to clap back for them!

That's fortunately the case with the Yumi Nu, the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star. Controversial clinical psychologist and YouTuber Jordan Peterson had the audacity to tweet about the model's cover debut, "Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that," and fans, as well as people who never even heard of Nu, came to her defense and mocked Peterson's response.

“’Authoritarian’? Chunky women on magazine covers? You sound like a parody of you,” one Twitter user—on the more savory side of the responses—wrote.

“It’s a conscious progressive attempt to manipulate & retool the notion of beauty, reliant on the idiot philosophy that such preferences are learned & properly changed by those who know better,” the '12 Rules For Life' author responded, with two links to scientific studies on attractiveness (which don't substantiate his point, one user pointed out), while he failed to acknowledge the long history of "plus-size" attractiveness that eclipses the more recent skinny craze.

Though Peterson did have some people echo his harmful comments about Nu's body, it appears he received such backlash he decided a few hours later to leave Twitter. "So I told my staff to change my password, to keep me from temptation, and am departing once again," he wrote, explaining, "The endless flood of vicious insult is really not something that can be experienced anywhere else"—which he ironically had sent in Nu's direction just hours earlier.

Unfortunately, society has miles to go in terms of body image. From "too fat" to "too skinny" and everything in between, in this gallery you'll learn more about how your favorite celebs have been body shamed. Click through.
