Fame and fortune have always held unique caveats for Hollywood stars, whether it be the pressures of audiences, the invasion of privacy, or the stress of never being able to live a "normal" life again. Many resort to substance abuse to take the edge off, but get lost and struggle to find their way back.
DMX, born Earl Simmons, passed away on April 9 following an April 2 drug overdose that had left him in a vegetative state and on life support. The legendary rapper battled substance abuse for years and had been been to rehab several times, the last time being in 2019. His family said in a statement: "Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever." He was just 50 years old.
