On August 17, Shakira announced she will mobilize funds to rebuild the Technological University of Chocó, in Colombia, which was damaged by the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the country on August 10, as well as around 10 non-university educational centers.

The Barranquilla-born singer’s contribution will not be given directly. The philanthropic organization Global Citizen will give US$500,000 dollars, while Live Nation—who promoted her most recent tour, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, and is also her commercial partner—will add a further $500,000 at her request.

In October 2025, Shakira joined the advisory board of the education fund run by FIFA in partnership with Global Citizen, alongside Serena Williams, The Weeknd, and FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino.

Shakira will collaborate with Colombian-American philanthropist Howard Graham Buffett, the son of billionaire Warren Buffett, one of the world’s richest men. The son of the business tycoon secured Colombian citizenship in 2021 under the government of Iván Duque after investing more than $160 million in projects in the Catatumbo region, including rebuilding roads and replacing illicit crops.
