On August 31, 'Clueless' actress Stacey Dash posted a video of herself grieving the death of DMX to social media. The late rapper passed away more than a year ago, so fans found this oddly-timed tribute more than a little bizarre! DMX died of a drug overdose in April of 2021, news which apparently didn't reach Dash. In the tearful video, she reflected on how one of his songs "saved" her many times and what a great man he was. She was genuinely shocked. Singer Tyrese Gibson commented on the video saying, "Ain't no way this is real," while another user wrote, "She was too busy storming the Capitol," referring to Dash's outspoken political views. Since her "it" girl fame in the '90s, Dash has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Her stint as a political pundit saw her make multiple ill-informed and wild statements that went viral.

Kathy Hilton -

Kathy Hilton, 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star and mother of Paris Hilton, appeared on the talk show 'Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen' in August. While playing a game in which she was shown pictures of celebrities and had to identify them, she made a mistake that didn't sit well with viewers. Hilton was shown a photo of pop superstar Lizzo, but identified her as 'Precious.' She was presumably referring to the character played by actress Gabourey Sidibe in the 2009 Oscar-winning drama of the same name. Her host and fellow guests were at a loss for words, and the moment quickly went viral. While some found her ignorance laughable, many called her fatphobic and racist for mixing up two plus-sized Black women who look completely different.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene -

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made an embarrassing mistake on live TV in February when she confused Nazi Germany's secret police with a cold Spanish soup. Greene appeared on One America News to speak about Nancy Pelosi. During her tirade of criticisms against the Speaker of the House, she accused Pelosi of using her "gazpacho police" to spy on members of Congress and American citizens. Clearly, she meant to say Gestapo, not gazpacho.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene -

A few months later, she was at it again. A known conspiracy theorist, Greene released a video speaking about the government's plan to surveil every aspect of life in America, including the average American's diet. "They want to know when you are eating, they want to know if you are eating a cheeseburger which is very bad because Bill Gates wants you to eat his fake meat that grows in a peach tree dish." She was referring to Gates's suggestion that wealthy countries could subsist on synthetic meat to help the climate crisis, and clearly meant to say petri dish rather than peach tree dish. The video was viewed over a million times within a matter of days as social media users ridiculed the controversial politician.

Rep. Debbie Lesko -

Arizona Rep. Debbie Lesko went viral for the wrong reasons on April 19 when she tweeted a slight exaggeration of the immigration situation on the US-Mexico border. “Border Patrol agents have apprehended more than 1,000,000,000 migrants at our southern border in just 6 months,” she wrote on Twitter. “President Biden’s open border policies are fueling this crisis!" The only problem was that she was linking to a Wall Street Journal article that says right in the title "US-Mexico Border Arrests Top One Million in Six Months." Soon after, "one billion" started trending. Eight hours later her tweet was still up without correction, which gave plenty of time for people to bring up the ironic timing: the state of Florida, led by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, recently banned dozens of proposed math textbooks because they supposedly reference critical race theory and other “prohibited topics,” HuffPost reports. The general sentiment from Twitter users is: "This is what happens when you ban the math books."

Laura Ingraham -

Fox News host Laura Ingraham was interviewing contributor Raymond Arroyo who, while discussing "woke storylines," brought up an episode of the show 'You' that mentioned measles. But Ingraham immediately thought he was talking about her. "Wait, when did I mention measles?" she asked with a confused look on her face. Arroyo told her it was on 'You,' and she replied, "What was on me? What are you talking about? I never had the measles!" As Arroyo tried to explain she continued, "We never did a measles and vaccine episode. Is this a joke?" She continued to insist she's never had measles, more and more enraged at his insistence. Arroyo told her it's a show called 'You' on Netflix and she looked at him sarcastically and said, "There's a show called Laura Ingraham on Netflix?" Arroyo threw his hands up and said, "Nevermind, I'm moving on to Adele. I can't explain this to you."

Seth Rogen -

Seth Rogen's hosting gig at the 2021 Emmys went awry when he announced that Hannah Waddingham had won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, for her role in 'Ted Lasso.' Rogen announced that the award was going to "Hannah Waddington," whoever that is... Fans on Twitter joked that Rogen probably blazed up before going on stage. Waddingham seemed unphased by the incident, reveling in her big win.

When Kanye West's new album 'Donda' dropped, Kim Kardashian took to her Instagram stories to share screenshots of herself listening to some songs from the album, but as 'Ok Ok, Pt. 2' started playing on her device, fans noticed that her volume was at the lowest possible level. "NOT KIM LISTENING TO DONDA ON MUTE," one fan shared on Twitter. Naturally, the internet had a field day. Though Kim didn't publicly comment on her gaffe, she quietly deleted it and added others—this time with the volume up.

The iconic Motown singer reentered the pop culture chat with a video from his Cameo service, the platform where stars can make personalized videograms for fans. In it, the star is totally confused about what 'Chanukah' is. "My mom grew up on the same street as Smokey Robinson in Detroit. So for Chanukah, I wanted to reunite them via @Cameo," one Twitter user wrote. "But the video takes a strange twist." Robinson says hello to the mother, then says, "They wanted me to wish you a happy Cha-noo-kah. I have no idea what Cha-noo-kah is, but happy Cha-noo-kah because they said so. Anyway, God bless you babe. And enjoy Cha-noo-kah." To be fair, Americans traditionally spell the holiday "Hanukkah," but it was endearing to see the singer try.
