French film producer Nicolas Altmayer, 61, and Dior public relations director Mathilde Favier, 57, were killed in a car crash in western France on August 17. The couple were traveling through the Deux-Sèvres region when their vehicle was allegedly overtaking another car and encountered an oncoming truck, resulting in a collision, according to the Niort prosecutor’s office.
An investigation into involuntary manslaughter has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
Altmayer was known for producing films including 'In the House' (2012), 'Young & Beautiful' (2012), and the 'OSS 117' series. Favier was a longtime figure in Dior’s public relations team.
French Culture Minister Catherine Pégard paid tribute to the couple, saying their deaths had “cast a shadow over two worlds,” film and fashion, that together carry France’s cultural influence around the world.
