Kylie Minogue is opening up about the reason she kept her second cancer diagnosis a secret in her new Netflix documentary.
In the three-part series, the Australian singer and songwriter, 57, shared that her initial diagnosis in 2005 left her feeling disconnected from her physical self, as widespread media attention followed her lumpectomy and chemotherapy journey.
She was declared cancer-free in February 2006. However, when the disease resurfaced in 2021, she wanted a more guarded approach. During the docuseries, Minogue explains that, this time around, she prioritized her privacy and emotional well-being.
Minogue acknowledged that she had thought about potential moments to reveal her second diagnosis—particularly when she made her triumphant return with the 2023 single 'Padam Padam.' Ultimately, she decided against it.
"I don't feel obliged to tell the world, and actually I just couldn't at the time because I was just a shell of a person," she shares in the docuseries.
