Amanda Peet has revealed that she's been diagnosed with breast cancer, opening up about her experience in a personal essay published on March 21. The actress said the diagnosis came after a routine checkup in 2025, when an ultrasound detected a small tumor.
Peet underwent further testing, which also identified a second tumor that was later found to be benign. She was treated with a lumpectomy and radiation, avoiding chemotherapy and a mastectomy.
The star also shared that her diagnosis came during a deeply difficult period, as both of her parents were in hospice care on opposite coasts. Her father died over Labor Day weekend in 2025, while her mother passed away this past January.
Indeed, breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. In countries like the US, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Find out which other celebrities have battled breast cancer in the following gallery.
