Matt Damon has reflected on the challenges of balancing a successful Hollywood career with fatherhood, saying the entertainment industry’s uncertainty has often made it difficult for him to remain fully present with his family.
In an interview with GQ published on June 2, Damon said that as his four daughters have grown older, he has become increasingly focused on being in the moment, but acknowledged that the demands of his profession have sometimes pulled him away from that goal.
The actor described Hollywood as an “uncertain” and “ruthless” business that encourages people to constantly think about what comes next. Damon, who rose to fame after starring in 'Good Will Hunting' (1997) alongside longtime friend Ben Affleck, recalled spending years moving from one project to another, driven in part by a fear that opportunities could disappear at any time. He said that mindset has remained with him throughout much of his career.
