Neil Young announced this January 28 that he is offering residents of Greenland free access to his entire music catalog for one year. The offer was shared on his official website and applies to users accessing the Neil Young Archives platform from the territory.

Young said the gesture was intended as a show of support following repeated public comments by US President Donald Trump suggesting the United States should annex Greenland. In his statement, Young said he hoped the music would help “ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats” faced by Greenlanders. The offer includes all of Young’s recorded work spanning more than six decades.

Known for blending music with activism, Neil Young has repeatedly used his platform to comment on political and social issues. Browse the following gallery to learn more about the music legend’s unconventional road to success.
