He announced "with great regret and apologies" to postpone the performances in Zurich and Milan. The post continued, "It is very frustrating that having avoided Covid throughout lockdown and throughout the period when travel restrictions have been in place Eric should have succumbed to Covid at this point in time, but we very much hope he will be sufficiently recovered by the end of the week to be able to perform the remainder of the planned performances." Clapton did receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, though he said he had adverse reactions to it, according to Rolling Stone.

On May 16, Clapton confirmed that he had tested positive in a Facebook post and announced he would postpone his upcoming tour dates. "Eric Clapton is unfortunately suffering from Covid having tested positive shortly after the second concert at the Royal Albert Hall. He has been told by his medical advisors that if he were to resume traveling and performing too soon, it could substantially delay his full recovery," the post began. "Eric is also anxious to avoid passing on any infection to any of his band, crew, promoters, their staff and of course the fans." He announced "with great regret and apologies" to postpone the performances in Zurich and Milan.

Coronavirus continues to take its toll on the world. With high-profile cases across the globe, we're still witnessing a scary and serious pandemic. Plus, with new fast-spreading variants continuing to emerge, it's no time to lose sight of the safety measures that remain necessary. And for all their influence, the famous are not immune to COVID-19.
Just a couple weeks after President Joe Biden revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, so too did his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, on August 15. She is fortunately double-vaccinated and twice boosted, and is taking Paxlovid, Pfizer's antiviral drug, according to her communications director. Her symptoms are mild and similar to the common cold, and though she's in a risky age group for coronavirus at 71, she's "feeling good," reports CNN. She's currently at a private residence in South Carolina and will return to the White House after two consecutive negative tests.
Take a look through the following gallery to see some more famous figures that the coronavirus has affected.
