Kanye “Ye” West
- Kanye "Ye" West is reportedly following through with his planned 2024 presidential run and has tapped alt-right figure Milo Yiannopoulos, who most recently worked as an unpaid intern for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, for his campaign. In a since-deleted video posted to the "PatriotTakes" Twitter on November 20 and shared by the NY Post, the rapper says, "This is Milo right here, working on the campaign." One of the men asks, “Is that an announcement?” and they laugh and Yiannopoulos replies, "I guess it is. Thanks, I accept." The cameraman then asks West, “So you are running?” and he replies, “Yes. It’s simple ’cause ain’t nobody can tell me, you know, ‘You should say this, you shouldn’t say that,’ you know? It’s just we’re moving towards the future.” The news came hot on the heels of backlash following West's anti-Semitic remarks.

Kanye West
- Kanye West previously announced his intention to run for 2020 President of the United States rather late in the game, only a few months before the election was due to start. There was speculation about whether his intentions were genuine. A bizarre rally in South Carolina where he cried and told personal stories about abortion did little to clear things up.

Clay Aiken
- Clay Aiken was a runner-up on 'American Idol' in 2003 and went on to release a successful album afterward. But after his music career, he decided to take up politics. The singer unsuccessfully ran for US Congress in 2014, but kept up a political podcast. He once again ran in North Carolina, for its 6th Congressional District and as a Democrat. The star announced his campaign on January 10 with a kickoff video in which he referenced his debut on 'Idol' nearly 20 years ago and clarified, "These days my life looks a lot more like yours than Justin Bieber's, that I can promise you. But one thing that has never changed for me is how much I love my home state." He said he wanted to run for Congress in the place "where I first discovered my voice" and that he wanted to focus on issues ranging "from stopping climate change, systemic racism, income inequality and gun violence to securing voting rights, free health care and a woman's right to choose." He also noted that, if elected, he would be the first openly gay congressperson from the South. Unfortunately he did not win.

Matthew McConaughey
- Despite seemingly having the odds in his favor, McConaughey announced on November 28 that he will not be running for governor of Texas in the state’s election in 2022. In a poll conducted by the University of Texas, Texas voters were asked who they'd support in a race between sitting Republican governor Greg Abbott and Matthew McConaughey; 45% backed the actor, while one third said they'd vote for Abbott. McConaughey then started to publicly weigh a political run, then dropped the idea entirely. In a video posted on Twitter, McConaughey said running for governor was a “humbling and inspiring path to ponder” but it was a path that “I’m choosing not to take at this moment.” Instead, the actor explained that he intends to put his focus on supporting entrepreneurs, businesses, foundations, and establishments that are creating “pathways for people to succeed.” He continued in the video, “Politicians? The good ones can help us to get to where we need to go, yeah. But let's be clear, they can't do anything for us unless we choose to do for ourselves."
