Ryan Gosling: from Disney to Hollywood
Gosling stirs Oscar buzz as rave reviews for 'Barbie' pour in
© BrunoPress
Ryan Gosling is a one of a kind actor. With a career spanning more than 25 years, he went from a child star in Disney Channel's 'The Mickey Mouse Club' to one of the most accomplished actors in today's Hollywood. In between, he delved into Canadian television, critically-acclaimed indie movies, and saw his family grow.
Now his most unexpectedly iconic role yet has arrived: Ken to director Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie.' Following the world premiere on July 9, the film starring Margot Robbie has been praised up and down for its incredible cast and the depth of the story. Variety noted ScreenRant writer Joseph Deckelmeier called the film “funny, bombastic and very smart,” adding that “Greta Gerwig aims for the fences and hits a home run.”
But many people are singling out Gosling specifically, whose portrayal of Ken goes from hilarious to tear-jerking in minutes. Jamie Jirak of ComicBook.com called the film her “favorite film of the year,” writing: “Greta Gerwig somehow exceeded my expectations…Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination, I’m dead serious!” 'Pay Or Wait' host Sharronda Williams called Gosling a “scene stealer delivering most of the laughs,” and even on the press tour Gosling has fully committed to the part, telling reporters Ken is in everyone, and we are "Kenough."
In this gallery, delve into Ryan Gosling's career throughout the years, from Disney to Hollywood.
