Celebs who were in fraternities and sororities -

It’s always interesting to learn about what celebrities were up to before they were famous. Sometimes it's very telling about the paths they chose, other times it can come as a complete surprise. Celebs may be in the news, on our screens, or in our ears, but they each have unique histories, though some of them even share commonalities. Such is the case with these actors, musicians, presidents, and sports stars who were in sororities and fraternities. Could that be some precursor to fame?

Meghan Markle lived the sorority life with Kappa Kappa Gamma while attending Northwestern University before becoming a famous actress and member of the British royal family.

While Brad Pitt was attending the University of Missouri, he became a Sigma Chi member. Pitt eventually dropped out and headed to Hollywood.

Kourtney Kardashian -

Kourtney Kardashian joined the Alpha Phi sisterhood while attending the University of Arizona, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theater arts and a minor in Spanish.

Shaquille O'Neal -

Shaquille O'Neal studied business at Louisiana State University while racking up points for the basketball team there. O'Neal was sworn into the Psi Phi fraternity there before he was drafted into the NBA in 1992.

Alicia Keys -

Songwriting powerhouse Alicia Keys was also welcomed into Alpha Kappa Alpha in 2004. She didn’t complete her studies at Columbia University, however, as she dropped out to pursue her career in music.

Matthew McConaughey is a proud Texan and was a Delta Tau Delta member during his time at the University of Texas at Austin.

Superstar singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma when she attended Northeastern State University and still stays in touch with her sorority sisters while on tour.

NBA legend Michael Jordan studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981, where he pursued his degree in geography and became a member of Omega Psi Phi.

Former US president George W. Bush attended Yale University before he occupied the oval office. At Yale, he became a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Sheryl Crow pledged herself to three different sororities during her time at the University of Missouri, including Kappa Alpha Theta, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Omicron Delta Kappa.

During his time at Kent State University, Ohio, Steve Harvey pledged and became an Omega Psi Phi member. The comedian and TV personality is now committed to helping others access education, having created numerous scholarship programs.

One of the most lovable Hollywood stars, Woody Harrelson was a fraternity member too back in the day. Before becoming a famous actor, Harrelson was in Sigma Chi while at Hanover University, Indiana.

‘Seinfeld’ icon Julia Louis-Dreyfus pledged her allegiance to the Delta Gamma sisters while attending Northwestern University. However, she dropped out of her studies after one year to pursue her acting career.

Tri Delta has many celebrity alumni, including actress Elizabeth Banks, who became a member while attending the University of Pennsylvania. Banks alluded to her sorority days playing a massive role in her directing ‘Pitch Perfect 2,’ saying that she "used [her] own experiences as a sorority girl at university to inform all these girls living together in a house.”
