A creative upbringing -

Chris Evans was born in Boston and grew up with his two sisters and brother. His mother is an artistic director at a local youth theater, and he was involved in a lot of musical theater growing up.

Music video appearance -

The cast of ‘Not Another Teen Movie’ appeared in the music video for Marilyn Manson’s ‘Tainted Love.’ The iconic video features Manson and his creepy crew crashing a typical high school party thrown by Evans and his co-stars.

His first time in a cat suit -

He appeared in his first superhero movie in 2005 when he played the Human Torch in ‘Fantastic Four’ alongside Jessica Alba.

A life-changing offer - In 2011, Evans landed the role that would completely change his life and skyrocket him to a scary level of fame. He was offered a nine-film contract to play Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, no audition required.

A near miss -

Evans nearly turned down the role of Captain America. He was worried about the exposure that would come with this massive role and how it would change his life, rendering him unable to go outside without being recognized.

Serious doubts -

He was at a period in life when he was experiencing a great deal of anxiety. He was having panic attacks on set and was starting to question if he was on the right path.

Mom to the rescue -

His mom gave him some helpful advice and he took his rightful place as Captain America. Evans was praised for bringing the character to life, and he soon became one of the biggest of all the Marvel stars.

The next chapter -

His life certainly did change, but he says he has no regrets about taking the leap. He told Men’s Journal that playing Captain America made him a better man. He became so intertwined with his character that he began to analyze situations in his life through the eyes of Steve Rogers, someone who might handle them better.

The Captain America era -

Evans first played the iconic superhero in in 2011's ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ He went on to reprise the role in eight more movies, making his final appearance in 2019 with ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

A close cast -

The original cast of the ‘Avengers’ movies all have a matching tattoo that they designed themselves. The symbol combines the emblems of each of their individual characters in the movies.

The worst suit? -

Fans of Captain America often debate the suit that Evans wore in the first ‘Avengers’ movies. Some say it’s the worst design of all, and Evans might be inclined to agree. Apparently the cowl he wore pressed uncomfortably against his head and caused him migraines while filming.

The gun show -

Some fans may have noticed that Evans looks particularly ripped in the movie ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ While he’s clearly in great shape, the costume department used a simple trick to make him look extra buff. Whenever he was seen in civilian clothing, they would put him in a t-shirt that was a couple sizes too small!

The two brothers appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ together and played a game of “Know Your Bro.” Chris spilled some extremely embarrassing childhood stories at Scott’s expense, including an occasion when he pooped his pants three times in one day. The guy has no brotherly loyalty!

A secret tap dancer? - Evans has mentioned that he enjoys tap dancing in several interviews, although he hasn’t really proven his salt as a dancer! When Ellen DeGeneres convinced him to show off his moves on her talk show, it looked like he needed some more practice...

While his tap dancing didn’t impress, he did make his Broadway debut in 2018. He played police officer Bill in Kenneth Lonergan's ‘Lobby Hero.’ His mother's musical theater influence certainly stayed with him.

Rumors of romance - His first celebrity crush was Sandra Bullock, and rumors emerged that they were dating at one point! Bullock poked fun at the gossip, joking that she and Evans had already been married and divorced.

His confirmed romances include a relationship with Jessica Biel in the early 2000s and actress Jenny Slate in 2016-2017. Since 2022, he seems to have found his perfect match: 'Warrior Nun' star Alba Baptista.

A true animal lover -

Evans is a serious animal lover. He picked up his rescue dog, Dodger, while filming the movie ‘Gifted’ (2017) with Octavia Spencer.

Finding Dodger - A scene in the movie involves a trip to a dog pound and Evans was completely enchanted. He walked around until he found a dog that “didn’t belong there,” and ended up taking Dodger home forever.

A permanent tribute - Evans loves Dodger so much that he even had his name tattooed on his chest. He told Jimmy Kimmel “I'll never regret that tattoo. I've regretted a few in my life, but not that one." He shared an adorable Instagram photo of Dodger lying on his chest, next to his special tattoo.

Evans has become a bit of a sensation on Twitter for his frank and liberal tweets. He was never afraid to speak his mind in regards to Donald Trump during his presidency, and voices his political opinions when he thinks it’s important.
