Ringo Starr is known globally as the affable and fun-loving Beatles' drummer, one of the Fab Four that conquered the popular music world in the 1960s. Starr, real name Richard Starkey, was not the band's original drummer. But without him, the Beatles would never have achieved their unique sound. Since the breakup of the Beatles all those years ago, Starr has acted and directed in film and formed his own supergroup, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. Now in his eighties, Starr is still recording and appearing live, often with his pal from the old days, Paul McCartney.
