"I thought it meant that you were broken," he explained. "I wanted to be the one who could say I didn't need it." The 'As It Was' singer, of course, saw incredible benefits after he started, saying that therapy enabled him to "open up rooms" in himself he wasn't aware even existed, and that he can now feel things more honestly after "emotionally coast[ing]" through life during his time with One Direction.

Former Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian, is also an ambassador for virtual therapy company Talkspace. He told People magazine how therapy was essential to not only his success but also his survival. "I found myself in a very dark spot in 2014," Phelps said, referring to his second drunk driving arrest. "It was the lowest point that I have been to so far—I felt like I didn't want to be alive." He explained, "At that moment, I felt like the best thing for me to do was just to end my life because I was causing other people so much pain—myself included. That's when I really decided that I needed help."

The 23-time gold medalist checked himself into a treatment center and continued to see a therapist afterwards. "It helped me feel comfortable in my own skin, to be my authentic self." Now he's an advocate for mental health, speaking publicly and candidly about his depression and anxiety to encourage as many people as he can to go to therapy.
