You might argue that celebs differ from normal folk in a number of ways (more money, more fame, etc.). However, immunity from the law does not feature on the list (at least not when it's serious). The rule of law states that no one is above the law and that everyone, stars and regular people alike, must operate within it or face the consequences.
If convicted of a crime, we can all face criminal penalties, such as prison time, fines, and community service. One of the more lenient sentences is house arrest, which serves to punish people by limiting their freedom to go about their lives freely by confining them to their homes. Granted serving house arrest is not quite the same if your house is a multi-million dollar mansion, but celebs nonetheless face reduced freedom while under home confinement.
