It's estimated that approximately 39 million people in the world are legally blind, and about 285 million live with some form of visual impairment. Treatable conditions like cataracts and diabetes are some of the main causes in developing countries where medical resources are lacking, but even the rich and famous can lose their sight for a variety of reasons.
