Diana's father was reportedly hoping for a son when Diana was born. He finally found his son and heir in his fourth child, Charles Spencer. He became the ninth Earl Spencer despite being the youngest in the family, as only male heirs could inherit the title.

According to royal biographer Sarah Bradford, Pakistani cardiologist Hasnat Khan was the great love of Princess Diana's life.

Relationship -

The relationship between the two began in 1995, when Diana was already separated from Charles. The two met during Diana's frequent visits to the Royal Brompton Hospital where he worked.

The princess met the Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Al Fayed in 1986 during a polo game, where Fayed's team played against Charles' team.

Late passion -

However, they didn't begin dating until the summer of 1997. Diana was 36, Dodi was 42, and they were both divorced. It was with Fayed that Diana would spend the final months of her life.

Sadly, it ended too soon when a tragic car crash took their lives. They died in Paris on August 31, 1997.

In 1992, it was announced that the princess might have a relationship with her childhood friend, James Gilbey (heir to the Gilbey Gin company). In a 1992 incident later dubbed "Squidgygate," The Sun tabloid claimed to have recorded intimate phone conversations between Gilbey and Diana in which he called her by the pet name "Squidgy."

John F. Kennedy Jr. was one of the more famous men to be linked to Diana. They had a secret meeting in 1995 which led to rumors of a night of passion.

During her tragically short life, Princess Diana was one of the most famous and beloved public figures in the world. She was coveted by many men, but someone in her position would likely have trouble finding someone she could trust. Sadly, we'll never know if she had found true love before her life was cut short.
