Bruce Springsteen has received an increasing number of death threats during his current Land of Hope and Dreams Tour, this according to longtime E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt. In an interview with the Daily Mail published on May 18, Van Zandt said security has been significantly increased as concerns grow over threats linked to the singer’s outspoken political views—with even the FBI reportedly involved.
Indeed, Van Zandt said the FBI and other authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of both the band and concertgoers.
Springsteen has used his tour to criticize President Donald Trump, US immigration enforcement, and the war in Iran. During opening night in Minneapolis on March 31, he described the current US administration as “corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless, and treasonous,” while urging fans to choose “hope over fear” and “peace over war.”
