Celebrities move through relationships at hyperspeed, or at least it seems like that to anyone trying to keep up with who's seeing whom. There are tons of stars getting together and breaking up every day, and we're increasingly seeing the most unexpected couples get together, meanwhile the couples we thought would last are finding that forever is much shorter than they'd hoped. Of course, there are also plenty of flings that ended just as swiftly as they began, but there are many marriages filing "irreconcilable differences" this year, too.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau are the latest to join the list. The political power couple announced their separation after 18 years of marriage on August 2. “After many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” read the joint statement. “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” they said. “For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy.” A statement from the prime minister’s office reiterated the former couple's continued dedication to their family and revealed that they were all going on vacation together shortly after the announcement. The ambitious politician and the glamorous TV presenter were married in a fairytale wedding in 2005, forming an alliance that saw them become the most powerful couple in Canada. They have three children, Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien, who are all under the age of 16.
