Crown Princess Mette‑Marit joined Norway's royal family for Constitution Day celebrations on May 17 wearing a nasal oxygen mask for assisted breathing. She has been mostly absent since her diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, which made the appearance stand out.

Medical conditions afflict many of us, and royals are no exception. Members of royal families all across Europe have suffered from a number of health problems, both physical and mental. Luckily, many have overcome those health setbacks. But others continue to struggle with medical conditions to this day.
