Renée Zellweger and her boyfriend, Ant Anstead, are facing a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was seriously injured while visiting the couple at a Laguna Beach rental home Anstead was leasing. According to court documents filed in February 2025, Tracey Bryn Belland alleges she “tripped and fell” on the patio on August 14, 2024, after a thin rug had been placed over a hole, injuring her right knee.
Belland claims she required medical treatment and continues to suffer physical, emotional, and financial damages. She is seeking unspecified compensation. The lawsuit names Zellweger, Anstead—who was the tenant leasing the property at the time—and the home’s owner, Glenn Alan Wilson, on negligence claims.
Zellweger and Anstead have denied all allegations, arguing Belland’s injuries were the result of her own negligence. Meanwhile, the property owner has filed a cross-complaint against the couple, alleging they were responsible for any potential hazard and should cover any damages awarded.
According to TMZ, a source familiar with the situation said Zellweger was not on the lease and did not live at the property, instead residing at a separate nearby home. The case remains ongoing, with a jury trial currently scheduled for June 22.
