This March 26, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced a new eligibility policy that excludes transgender women athletes from participating in women’s events at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. This new change is in line with US President Donald Trump's executive order on sports, issued in 2025.
"Eligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females, determined on the basis of a one‑time SRY gene screening," the IOC said in a statement.
As of this moment, it is not clear how many, if any, transgender women are competing at an Olympic level.
