Prince Harry has spoken out after a judge dismissed his lawsuit against a British tabloid publisher, calling the ruling “a complete and obvious whitewash.” The decision, handed down on July 7 after a lengthy trial, marks a major setback in his ongoing battle against News Group Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers.

In a joint statement with Baroness Doreen Lawrence, the Duke of Sussex said the court failed to deliver “justice and accountability,” criticizing what he described as inconsistencies in how evidence was handled. The ruling concluded that Harry and other claimants had not proven unlawful information gathering by the publisher.

The verdict came as Harry was in London for Invictus Games-related events, where he maintained a composed public appearance despite the legal defeat. The case is part of his broader campaign against media intrusion, following previous legal wins and settlements with other tabloid groups.

Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, married on May 19, 2018, in a globally broadcast royal ceremony at Windsor Castle, but their relationship has been shaped as much by intense media scrutiny as by royal tradition. Persistent press intrusion and legal battles over privacy have played a central role in their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 and build a new life in California with their two children.

From their whirlwind romance to ongoing clashes with the media, their story remains one of the most closely followed—and contested—modern royal narratives. Click through for a timeline of their journey together.
