GQ's Instagram has published part of an interview promoting the upcoming movie 'Highest 2 Lowest' starring Denzel Washington, in which the star admitted he doesn't watch movies anymore.
“I don’t watch movies, man,” Washington said. “I really don’t.” Speaking to his co-star A$AP Rocky, Washington admitted he's tired of movies, maybe because he's been in the industry for so long. He recently spoke about how he's lost interest in the Oscars as well, even though he has won two of the coveted golden statuettes. “I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s times when I’ve won, shouldn’t have won, didn’t win, should have won,” the actor said.
You’d think movie stars would love seeing themselves shine on the big screen, but not all do. For many actors, the job ends when the director yells “cut” for the last time. Whether it's avoiding the emotional weight of intense roles, cringing at their own voice, or just being their own worst critic, plenty of stars skip watching the final cut.
With hectic schedules, overlapping projects, on-set drama, and bad memories, there's a long list of reasons why some would rather move on than relive it all. So yes, actors are just like us: slightly allergic to watching themselves on video.
