On August 28, 1963, a quarter of a million people took part in the March on Washington to protest
racial discrimination and show support for the civil rights movement. The historic event is remembered for Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech. What isn't so well known, however, is that among those mingling in the crowds were some of the era's most famous actors and singers. They were drawn to the march to lend star support, but by doing so risked their reputation and even their safety.
