Ageism is one of the few prejudices that is likely to affect most people at some point in their lives. The phenomenon is a systemic form of oppression against people of specific age groups, but it can affect individuals of all ages from childhood onwards.

Yet despite its wide reach and negative impact on physical and mental health, ageism is one of the most widespread and socially accepted forms of prejudice. 

Ageism shows up in many ways. In order to fight it, it's important to recognize the various forms that affect both older and younger individuals.
