The listeria outbreak that resulted from prepared pasta meals has expanded further, now totaling seven deaths and 27 sick people across 18 US states. According to FDA findings, there were two recent deaths and seven new illnesses, most recently reported in September and October 2025, with the latest case of illness occurring on October 16.

The ready-to-eat pasta meals were sold at grocery stores nationwide, such as Trader’s Joe’s, Sprouts Farmers Market, Kroger, and Walmart. The contaminated products were supplied by Nate’s Fine Foods. 

Indeed, in recent years, numerous foods in the US have been tied to serious illnesses and even deaths, often due to contamination with harmful bacteria, viruses, or toxins. From contaminated produce to unsafe meat and dairy products, these incidents have raised awareness about food safety and led to nationwide recalls.
