A new US trial is providing strong evidence that multivitamins may slow aging. The study, by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, tested whether two supplements, a multivitamin–multimineral (MVM) and 500 mg of cocoa flavanols, could slow biological aging.

Nearly 1,000 participants in the COSMOS trial—average age 70—were followed for two years. Those taking a daily multivitamin showed slower aging on two biological clocks compared with a placebo. Cocoa extract had no effect on the five aging clocks, even though other studies suggest it may have health benefits.

But apart from supplements and multivitamins, how do we ensure our immune system is in good shape? Well, there are a few things we can do to boost it, including eating the right foods, exercising, and supplementing our diet with specific nutrients. While these supplements do not replace a healthy and balanced diet, they can help boost our immune system.
