The world’s eyes have been trained on the few companies producing vaccines for coronavirus, including successful companies like Pfizer and Moderna, as well as ones that struggled a little longer with public opinion like Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca. In the US, many companies and state governments have actually begun persuading people to get vaccinated with rewards like fishing licenses in Maine, baseball tickets in New York, tuition money for students, flight tickets, and more.
The jabs have begun spreading through the world, faster in some places than others, and besides the conspiracy theories that companies are trying to put chips in humans, or the repeatedly disproved theories that vaccines cause autism, people are still concerned about the speed with which these new vaccines were created. But much of the fear around them comes from not fully understanding how they work. And that goes for vaccines of all sorts!
Click through to read about some other rewards as well as how regular vaccines work, how COVID-19 vaccines are developing, and what the new RNA technology means for our immunization and the (hopeful) end of this pandemic.
