British music icon Sir Cliff Richard has revealed he was treated for prostate cancer after the disease was discovered during routine medical checks ahead of a recent tour. The 85-year-old singer said the cancer was caught early and had not spread beyond the prostate.
Richard said the diagnosis was made while undergoing health checks required for tour insurance, adding, “The good fortune was that it was not very old and it had not metastasized.”
He urged men to get tested, stressing the importance of early detection, and criticized the lack of a national prostate cancer screening program in the UK. Richard also said he hopes to work with King Charles to raise awareness, as a public consultation on prostate screening is currently underway.
