A study from the University of Bergen, in Norway, suggests that sleep-tracking apps may increase anxiety in people with insomnia, as constant monitoring can make them more focused on their sleep quality. While these apps can help users understand their sleep habits, researchers found they may also create stress, especially for those already struggling with sleep.

The study, published on March 20, surveyed more than 1,000 people in Norway and found that younger adults were the most affected. This group also reported benefits, such as paying more attention to sleep, yet reported downsides included higher levels of worry.
