Claire Foy has revealed that she unknowingly lived with internal parasites for “at least five years,” a discovery that ultimately led her to completely change her diet.

Speaking on the 'Table Manners' podcast on February 4, the actress, known for portraying Queen Elizabeth II in the first seasons of 'The Crown,’ said she began experiencing unexplained weight loss before learning she had picked up the parasites, which she believes happened during a trip to Morocco.

Foy described being told by doctors that the parasites “travel as a pair,” prompting her to pursue dietary changes rather than what she called “really hardcore antibiotics.” As part of the treatment, she gave up caffeine and said she continues to follow dietary restrictions due to an autoimmune condition.

Parasites are organisms that derive nourishment and protection from other living organisms, and they can cause diseases in humans. While parasitic diseases are relatively uncommon in some parts of the world, in other regions, they can be absolutely devastating. Passed on to people via parasites found in contaminated food, water, soil, or bug bites, it's important to note that not all parasitic diseases are due to poor sanitation or poverty. In fact, anyone can be exposed to parasites.
