More US hospitals and schools are tightening visitor rules and closing as a deadly “super flu” spreads. Cases of the dangerous H3N2 subclade K strain are rising in over three dozen US states and could surpass last year’s severe flu season. In the UK, cases are also rising. This year’s main flu strain is new to people’s immune systems, leaving many vulnerable to severe illness. Officials are urging the public to watch for sudden flu symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, headache, cough, body aches, congestion, or a runny nose, especially in children.
