Food poisoning

Residents in Sacramento and Davis, California, are being urged to check their egg cartons after a local distributor announced a recall of 1,515 dozen eggs.

The California Department of Public Health said Veg Farms, a Dixon-based supplier, issued the recall on December 5, over concerns the eggs may be contaminated with salmonella. The recall applies to 12-count cartons and 30-count flats with sell-by dates of December 22 or earlier, or Julian dates of 328 or earlier. The affected eggs, marked with handler code 2136, were distributed to restaurants and farmers’ markets.
