The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that certain batches of Giant Eagle Baked Pita Chips with Parmesan, Garlic, and Herb are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
The affected pita chips were sold exclusively at Giant Eagle and Market District stores across Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. According to the FDA's statement, made on May 7, salmonella poses particular health risks for vulnerable populations, including young children, elderly individuals, and people with compromised immune systems.
The recall affects only products carrying UPC code 0 3003496507 5 (found on the back of the bag) with a "best if used by" date of 07/16/26.
So far, no illnesses have been reported.
