History

The Bayeux Tapestry is one of the most important medieval works of art in the world. Created in the 1070s, it chronicles the events of the Norman Conquest, when William I defeated King Harold II at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, one of the most famous military engagements in English history. The story is spread over

70 meters (229 feet), illustrated through intricate embroidery.
